Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Refugees and Returnees of the country has said that it will hold a tripartite meeting with Pakistan and the United Nations Refugee Agency on the situation of Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

The ministry also said that in the last two weeks, more than 200 migrant families have returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan.

Abdul Mutalib Haqqani, the spokesman of the Ministry of Refugees and Returnees, said about the tripartite meeting: "There has been an agreement on the tripartite meeting to be held between the Islamic Emirate, Pakistan and UNHCR, but the date has not been set yet."

At the same time, the Ministry of Refugees and Returnees has announced the meeting of some officials of the Embassy of the Islamic Emirate in Pakistan, including the Embassy's Refugee Affairs Officer, with the Chief of Police of Islamabad. According to the newsletter of the Ministry of Immigrants and Returnees, the challenges of Afghan immigrants in Pakistan were discussed in this meeting.

On the other hand, Sardar Ahmed Shakib, head of the country's embassy in Islamabad, has said that the Pakistani police have asked Afghan citizens to leave the cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

According to the newsletter of the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad, which was published today (Wednesday, 26 Jadi), Shakib made these statements in a conversation with Philippa Kandler, the head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Pakistan.

The head of the country's embassy in Islamabad is worried about the recent arrest and harassment of Afghan citizens in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

He emphasized on protecting the rights and guaranteeing the necessary facilities for people who have residence cards (POAR), Afghan citizenship card (ACC) and United Nations Commissioner's "Sharp" letterhead.

The country's ambassador has said that the Pakistani police is searching the homes of Afghan immigrants and arresting even people with visas and legal documents, including women and children, and in some cases demanding bribes and huge sums of money.

It should be noted that in recent days, the Pakistani police has intensified the arrest and deportation of Afghan citizens from Islamabad.

In the newsletter of the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad, it is stated that the head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has also expressed concern over the recent actions of the Pakistani security institutions against Afghan refugees.

He has said that he has received similar complaints about harassment of migrants and has talked to Pakistani authorities about this.

Meanwhile, after increasing tensions and conflicts between Pakistan and Afghanistan in recent months, Pakistan has accelerated the deportation of Afghan immigrants from this country since the beginning of January.

According to the officials of the Islamic Emirate, hundreds of thousands of Afghan immigrants have been deported from Pakistan.
