Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The media of the Islamic Republic of Iran have reported that Sardar Mohammad Bagheri, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, who traveled to this country to meet with Pakistani officials, emphasized in an interview with reporters upon his arrival in Islamabad: "In recent years, relations between the armed forces of the two countries have developed significantly and positive agreements have been reached in this regard. Issues related to borders and border areas are one of the priorities of this visit, and the two countries are trying to reduce security challenges on these borders through joint cooperation."
He also announced the expansion of training cooperation, joint operations, exercises and other aspects of military cooperation between Iran and Pakistan, and stated that efforts will be made to deepen the relations between the two countries in these areas during this visit.
Referring to recent developments in the region, Sardar Bagheri stated that Iran and Pakistan are two major Islamic countries in the West and South Asia region that have common views on many regional issues. He added: "During this visit, we will also address regional issues and emphasize coordination and joint cooperation in international forums."
According to IRNA, this visit was generally intended to strengthen defense, security and economic relations between Iran and Pakistan, and according to this senior Iranian military official, it is hoped that cooperation between the two countries will be elevated to a higher level in the near future.
