Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Strict security measures have been taken at Donald Trump's inauguration in Washington, including 48 kilometers of fencing, the deployment of more than 25,000 police officers, and the use of surveillance technologies, including drones.
The Russian news agency Rapteli reported that the US National Guard has deployed 5,000 soldiers from 40 states to secure Washington, and a security perimeter has been set up near Capitol Hill (the Congressional buildings). This security perimeter will include traffic control and patrols at subway stations.
In addition, several checkpoints are operating in the US capital to actively monitor the influx of spectators and protesters.
Trump's inauguration ceremony will be held at the US Capitol on January 20, 2025 (12:00 PM, Washington DC time, 9:30 PM, Afghanistan time).
Given the forecast of very cold weather and concerns about the health of attendees, it has been decided to hold the ceremony indoors. This decision is similar to the inauguration of Ronald Reagan in 1985, which was held indoors due to extreme cold.
The English section of the Voice of America wrote about the measures taken for the inauguration: Organizers of the ceremony expect about 250,000 people to buy tickets for the ceremony and pour onto Capitol Hill and the National Mall. Of course, only a few people will be able to enter the main building of the Congress and the venue, which has a capacity of 600 people. The indoor stadium "Capital One Arena" in Washington, which is intended for this ceremony, will also hold 20,000 people.
According to ISNA, the inauguration security team, which will include the US Secret Service, FBI, US Capitol Police, Washington Metropolitan Police and about 7,800 US Army and Air National Guard troops, will watch over the city from a command center connected to a vast network of cameras.
Even before the decision was made to hold the inauguration ceremony indoors, officials were preparing for what they described as a "more threatening environment" and warned that security plans for this ceremony would be stricter than for previous inaugurations.
"I think the biggest threat to us is the individual agent. This threat is the biggest justification for us to be on the highest alert level in the country."
Concerns about this threat intensified following the New Year's Eve terrorist attack and siege in New Orleans and the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck in front of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
