Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: IRNA referred to the note of Mohammad Sadiq Khan, the special representative of Pakistan for Afghanistan, on his official account on the X network, which wrote: On Monday, Jan 20, he hosted Hashem Ashjazadeh, the director general of South Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Iran's special representative for Afghanistan.
The meeting was also attended by "Reza Amiri Moghadam", the Iranian ambassador to Islamabad, and "Mohammad Mudassar Tipu", the Pakistani ambassador to Tehran.
Sadiq Khan said in the note: "We discussed the international geopolitical situation and the regional challenges that the two countries are facing. It was agreed in this meeting to jointly address the challenges."
Until now, following the introduction of the new head of the Iranian embassy in Kabul, the status of the country's special representative for Afghan affairs was unclear. In response to a question from an Ava reporter, the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that this issue is being reviewed at the presidential and ministry levels.
Meanwhile, according to Tasnim Afghanistan, after Mr. Kazemi Qomi, the new Iranian government has decided to transfer the responsibilities of the Iranian presidential special representative for Afghan affairs to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to manage the challenges in this neighboring country with a new and more coordinated approach. It is expected that under Ashjazadeh's leadership, Iran-Afghanistan relations will move towards strengthening bilateral cooperation and establishing stability in the region, and these changes can be seen as an opportunity to promote diplomacy and positive interactions between the two countries.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet officially announced its position on this matter.
