England will not boycott games with Afghanistan

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) – Monitoring: A group of 160 MPs signed a letter to England and Wales Cricket Board chief executive Richard Gould this month urging the governing body to postpone the match against Afghanistan, which is due to be played in Lahore on February 26.

Lisa Nandy, the Minister for Culture, Media and Sport, has called for the game to be played. "I am instinctively very wary of boycotts in sport, partly because I think they are counterproductive," she told BBC Breakfast. "They are denying the fans of sport an opportunity that they would like and they can also penalise athletes and sportspeople who are working very, very hard to reach the top of their game and then being denied the opportunity to compete./The Guardian
