Afghan Voice News Agency (AWA) - International Service: The spokesman for the Syrian Military Operations Directorate announced that Ahmed al-Sharaa (al-Jolani) will assume the presidency of the country in the transitional phase and carry out the duties of the presidency.
In a news report on this matter, Al Jazeera TV channel quoted Colonel Hassan Abdul Ghani, spokesman for the Syrian Military Operations Directorate, as saying that the 2012 constitution, along with the emergency laws passed in the country, have been abolished.
The spokesman also announced the dissolution of the People's Assembly (Majlis Shaab), which was formed during the Bashar al-Assad government, and its branch committees.
The Syrian army was also dissolved within this framework, and the Syrian Military Operations Directorate promised to form a new army based on national principles.
All security institutions affiliated with the previous structure were also declared dissolved.
In addition, all the militia groups that were formed in the previous period will be dissolved and the new structure will establish new security institutions to maintain security.
In the same framework, the Syrian Baath Party, along with the parties of the National Progressive Front, were also declared dissolved.
Within the framework of these decisions, Ahmed al-Sharaa will assume the presidency of the country in the transitional phase and will assume the duties of the Syrian Arab President.
The authority to form a temporary legislative assembly for the transitional phase has been delegated to the president.
