Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Local US media have reported that the deadly Southern California wildfires have been completely contained after 24 days.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Eaton and Palisades fires, which began on January 7, caused widespread destruction in these areas due to severe drought and strong winds.
The Palisades fire started east of Malibu and spread rapidly. The Eaton fire also started on the slopes of the Los Angeles National Forest and spread towards Altadena.
According to Los Angeles medical officials, at least 29 people died in these fires, with 12 in Palisades and 17 in Eaton. Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
The Palisades Fire burned about 9,500 acres of land, destroyed 6,837 buildings and damaged more than 1,000 other structures.
The Eaton Fire burned about 5,700 acres, more than 1,600 acres of which were in urban areas.
Officials say the weekend storm brought the most significant rainfall in months, helping firefighters contain the blaze.
