World Hijab Day; An occasion to combat discrimination against Muslim women
This is the 13th anniversary of "World Hijab Day," which was held to protest discrimination against Muslim women by Islamic institutions in Europe and America.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: World Hijab Day is one of the international events related to how women dress in society. According to Pars Today, on this day, Muslim and hijab-wearing women invite non-Muslim women from various religions to spend a day wearing hijab and share their experiences of wearing it.
The purpose of this day is to correct any misconceptions about hijab and Muslim women and to convey the message to women around the world that hijab does not hinder social activity.
The National Education Association of the United States has asked teachers and students to support Muslim girls and women who face discrimination because of wearing hijab by participating in the ceremonies of this day.
This day is part of an intentional effort to combat ignorance, discrimination, and prejudice that Muslim women face due to wearing hijab.
The organizers of this day emphasized that it is an opportunity to showcase the value of diversity and celebrate it as a force that unites the world.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights organization in the United States, announced regarding this day: This year, World Hijab Day will be held under the slogan "Hijab, a Voice That Won't Be Silenced" to reflect the strength and resilience of hijab-wearing women against challenges and stereotypes. Thus, the slogan highlights the hijab as a symbol of empowerment, identity, and solidarity, focusing on amplifying the voices of hijab-wearing women globally.
CAIR further explained in its statement about the campaign: "World Hijab Day" has become a platform for raising awareness to foster dialogue and change misconceptions, as the hijab is not just a piece of clothing but a symbol that reflects the beliefs and identity of those who wear it. Despite diversity, it seeks unity./Pars Today
