Nearly 200 killed and injured in Sudanese rapid reaction force attack
Sudan government officials announced that 194 citizens of the country were killed and injured in the rapid reaction force attack on a market in Omdurman, Khartoum.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Sudanese government officials said: 194 people were killed and injured during the shelling of Sabreen market and northern neighborhoods of Omdurman (the third city in Khartoum state) by the rapid reaction force.
 
"Fathur Rahman Mohammed Amin", the Director General of Health Services in Khartoum, said: 54 citizens lost their lives and 136 others were injured during the shelling of the (populous) Sabreen market and northern neighborhoods of Omdurman.
 
He told a reporter for the Sudan Tribune newspaper: Medical staff performed 31 surgeries to remove shrapnel from the bodies of the wounded, and the wounded from the shelling are being treated in the New and Amran hospitals.
 
Meanwhile, the Sudanese Doctors Network announced that 61 people were killed and 65 others were injured in the shelling of Sabreen Bazaar and northern Omdurman neighborhoods.
 
Khaled Al-Asir, the official spokesman for the Sudanese government, called the attack by the Rapid Reaction Forces on Sabreen Bazaar a terrorist act and stated that many civilians were killed and injured in the shelling, including women, children and the elderly.
 
He called the shelling a clear violation of international law and called on international organizations and human rights organizations to list the Rapid Reaction Forces as terrorist groups and to prosecute its high-ranking officials for the massacre of innocent people.
 
According to the newspaper, various political groups and organizations in Sudan condemned the shelling of Sabreen Bazaar and northern Omdurman areas and emphasized the prosecution of its perpetrators.
 
Rapid Reaction Forces are continuously shelling neighborhoods, health centers, and commercial areas in Omdurman, which is under the control of the Sudanese army.
 
Simultaneously with this shelling, attacks by Rapid Reaction Forces on power plants and water facilities in cities in the north, east, and center of Sudan that are under the control of the army have increased.
