The acting head of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul is our representative in Afghan affairs
In response to a question from an AVA reporter about the fate of this country's special mission in Afghan affairs, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran clarified that the Iranian ambassador in any country is the representative of this country, and in the case of Afghanistan, the acting head of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul is the representative of this country and, together with the relevant director general in the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they act as the custodians of Afghan affairs.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: Esmail Baghaei, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, answered AVA reporter's question about the visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister to Kabul and the fate of this country's special representative in Afghan affairs in his weekly press conference with reporters today, Monday, February 3.
Regarding the fate of Iran's special representative in Afghan affairs, he clarified: Our special representative in any country is the Iranian ambassador in that country. We have a new acting head of the Iranian Embassy in Afghanistan who is our representative. He, along with the relevant director general (South Asia), acts as the custodian of Afghanistan-related affairs.
In response to a question about the note of the Pakistani Special Representative for Afghanistan Affairs on page X, which introduced Mr. Ashjazadeh, the director general for South Asia of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, as Iran's special representative for Afghanistan, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said: "That news of the meeting with the Pakistani special representative was a media mistake, and Mr. Ashjazadeh is the acting director general for South Asia of the Iranian Foreign Ministry."
Given this stance of the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, it seems that for now the issue of selecting this country's special representative for Afghanistan affairs has been set aside and the acting director general of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul, along with the director general for South Asia of the ministry, are pursuing issues related to Afghanistan affairs.

Kabul trip an attempt to reach a common understanding
He continued, regarding the assessment of the visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi to Kabul last week, saying: The visit to Afghanistan should be seen as a continuation of the past 3.5 years and in line with the continuation of the relations between Iran and Afghanistan as two nations of the same religion and descent with long common borders. We have many things in common and we are trying to make these ties the basis and infrastructure for mutual understanding and removing obstacles in the development of relations.
Baqai noted that we have issues in various fields, including the issues of rights, immigration and security. These issues should be raised within diplomatic frameworks and the two sides should reach a common understanding.
Stating that Iran has had relations with the Islamic Emirate, he expressed hope that this visit to Kabul will be a step in the process of reaching a common understanding, both in terms of addressing concerns and using existing capacities to promote relations, especially in the economic sector.
The spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added: This trip was not only a political and diplomatic trip, but a large economic and trade group accompanied Mr. Araqchi, who had a good meeting with the Afghan Minister of Industry and Trade, as well as a very good meeting with economic and trade activists from both countries.
He said: Our concerns about water were also raised seriously, and Afghan officials, considering the importance of Iran's rights, emphasized that even if there is no treaty, they consider themselves morally and religiously committed to Iran's water rights.
Baghaei emphasized: Good talks were also held on security issues and border security.
Stating that good talks were also held on the issue of refugees, he said: There was no disagreement on this issue that illegal refugees should return to their country. We announced our readiness to help with the process of accepting refugees in Afghanistan and creating infrastructure, especially in terms of creating jobs in this country.
Of course, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, in this regard, the international community, especially the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, has specific duties and must fulfill its duties to help Iran and the refugees.

Iran's position in regional equations regarding Afghanistan
In response to another reporter's question about the possible new round of the Doha meeting on Afghanistan and Iran's presence in regional and international mechanisms regarding this country, he said: Iran's position in regional equations regarding Afghanistan is clear. What happens in Afghanistan has a direct impact on Iran and is important to us. We will use every opportunity to improve the situation in Afghanistan.
