Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The presidents of China and Pakistan stressed the need for close cooperation to resolve Afghanistan's issues and help the country on the path of sustainable development and integration into the international community.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari is on a four-day visit to China from December 17 to 20.
In the statement, China and Pakistan agreed to continue communication and coordination on Afghanistan and emphasized their constructive role in supporting the country's stability and development.
The two sides also reiterated their commitment to fighting terrorism in all its forms and dimensions with a "zero tolerance" approach.
They called on the Taliban government to take concrete and verifiable measures to dismantle and destroy all terrorist groups based in the country and prevent the use of Afghan territory against other countries.
According to the statement, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Chinese President Xi Jinping exchanged views on China-Pakistan relations and international and regional issues and stressed the importance of strategic cooperation. They also stressed the development of economic, security, and cultural cooperation and the joint fight against terrorism and global threats.
Pakistan supported China's global initiatives such as the Global Development Initiative, Global Security and Global Civilization, the statement added. The two countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in various fields including infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and information technology. The Pakistani president also stressed the importance of joint projects such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the development of ports and airports.
The two sides also stressed mutual support on sensitive issues such as Taiwan and Kashmir and stressed the need to resolve conflicts in South Asia and the Middle East with the cooperation of other countries. They agreed to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation and expand their relations through diplomatic channels.
