More than 18,000 Afghan refugees returned from Pakistan last month
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said 18,300 Afghan refugees returned from Pakistan in January this year.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: About 1,000 of these people have been forcibly deported from Pakistan, the agency said in a report.
They were arrested in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the report said.
Also, less than 800 returnees are women and children with various documents.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says the figure has doubled since last year (2024).

In recent days, the forced deportation of Afghan migrants from Pakistan, even those with valid legal documents, has increased dramatically, especially from Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
