Ministry of Agriculture’s Efforts Towards Country’s Self-Sufficiency in Production of Quality Seeds
The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock says that the Deputy Minister of the Ministry has announced joint efforts towards Afghanistan’s self-sufficiency in the field of production of quality seeds at the “Seed Quality Control Workshop”.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock today (Sunday, February 9) issued a press release saying that the seed quality control workshop was inaugurated with the participation of Maulvi Zamir Osmani, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of the Ministry, at the Badam Bagh Research Farm in Kabul.
 
At this ceremony, Maulavi Zamir Osmani gave a speech and asked the attendees to effectively utilize this training program and transfer their experiences to farmers.
 
He also emphasized that high-quality and standardized seeds should be produced to meet the people’s need for quality flour.
 
He added: "With joint efforts, we can achieve self-sufficiency and the Ministry of Agriculture plans to provide 55,000 metric tons of quality improved seeds next year Maulavi Osmani further thanked the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and other partner institutions in launching this training program.
 
He urged the attendees to provide their knowledge to farmers after completing the training course so that they can benefit from this worldly and hereafter.
 
Sediqullah Rahmani, Head of Seed Certification, Zikrullah Abdul Rahimzai, Head of the Emirates Seed Production Company, and Ahmad Zia Arya, representing the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), spoke about the importance of producing quality and standardized seed seeds and its value for communities.
 
This training program was held in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and more than 100 employees of the Ministry of Agriculture's Certification Department, employees of the Emirates Seed Production Company and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations from five zones of the country are participating in it.
