Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Information and Culture today (Sunday, 9 February) announced the reconstruction and restoration of Herat Grand Mosque.
The press release states that Maulavi Ahmadullah Muttaqi, Head of Information and Culture of Herat province, says that since the earthquake, 200,000 dollars have been spent on the reconstruction of different parts of the Grand Mosque of the said province.
Based on the press release, Muttaqi examined the conditions of maintenance and restoration of different parts of the mosque and also assessed the problems and needs of this historical monument.
The Head of Information and Culture of Herat province emphasized the importance of preserving and restoring historical and Islamic sites, saying that the preservation and restoration of these buildings are important duties of the Department of Information and Culture.
According to a press release, Sediq Mir, head of the Herat Department of Information and Culture’s Historical Monuments Preservation Department, said that the construction of the mosque’s spires has been completed and the restoration of the tiles of this historical monument is currently ongoing.
It is worth noting that the Herat Grand Mosque is one of the oldest and most attractive historical monuments in Afghanistan, dating back several centuries and has always attracted the attention of domestic and foreign tourists and researchers.
