Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he is ready to negotiate in any format, provided that the US and Europe provide security guarantees to this country.
According to the TASS report, Zelensky said in an interview with the British ITV News network, in response to the question of whether he was willing to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, "If I am sure that the US and Europe will not abandon us and will support us and give us security guarantees, I am ready for any type of negotiations."
Zelensky had previously said in an interview with Bloomberg that he understood that ending the war through diplomacy without Russia was impossible.
Russian officials have repeatedly stated their readiness to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine, according to TASS. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova recently noted that the main obstacles to the talks are Zelensky’s ban on communicating with Putin and Ukrainian initiatives, which indicate Kiev’s lack of full understanding of the situation on the ground.
At the same time, Putin has repeatedly stressed that Zelensky is no longer the legitimate president and that it is important to know who in Kiev can sign legally binding documents.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also stressed that negotiations with Ukraine are possible, but their outcome must be approved by legitimate authorities.
