Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The Palestinian Authority's Foreign Ministry condemned the move by the "Ministerial Committee for Legislative Affairs" in the occupation regime to approve a draft law to approve the name Judea and Samaria instead of the West Bank.
According to Al-Quds Al-Arabi, the ministry announced that this draft law constitutes a dangerous escalation of tension in the occupation regime's unilateral and illegal actions, and is a prelude to completing the annexation of the West Bank and imposing Israeli law on it by force of occupation and the systematic destruction of the opportunity to establish a Palestinian state on its own land and resolve the conflict through peaceful political methods.
The ministry stressed that this draft and other actions of the occupation regime do not create any rights for Israel in the Palestinian territories, and that these decisions are null and void, illegal, and a clear violation of international law and UN resolutions, and a clear threat to the security and stability of the region and the world.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called for immediate international intervention to stop the occupation regime’s efforts to change the political, legal, and geographical status of Palestine, which is recognized by international circles.
The Palestinian Authority’s Foreign Ministry called on all countries to make the level of their relations with the Zionist regime conditional on the regime’s cabinet’s adherence to international law and the implementation of legitimate international resolutions.
The Israel Radio and Television Authority reported that the vote on this draft law is expected to be held in the Knesset plenary session next Wednesday.
On January 29, the Knesset approved in its initial consideration a draft law that would allow Jews to register themselves as owners of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank.
