Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Rubio, while consulting with the President of the United Arab Emirates against Hamas, emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between Washington and Abu Dhabi.
According to the US State Department, Rubio and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, while praising US-UAE relations, emphasized the importance of the two countries' partnership in promoting security and stability in the region.
The US Secretary of State expressed his desire for greater bilateral cooperation and investment, including in the fields of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
According to Washington, they also discussed "the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the importance of ensuring the release of all hostages, including American citizens, by Hamas."
The call came as US President Donald Trump's proposal to "take control of Gaza" and forcibly displace Palestinians has faced widespread international criticism.
Rubio, while thanking the UAE for its humanitarian aid to Gaza, "stressed the need to ensure that Hamas can never threaten the government or Israel in Gaza."
They also "expressed their support for a cessation of hostilities in Lebanon."
Rubio is scheduled to travel to the UAE, the occupied Palestinian territories and Saudi Arabia this week to discuss the situation in Gaza and the region.
