Norwegian Refugee Council: Our activities in Afghanistan continue
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has announced that it will not suspend its activities in Afghanistan, but that some US-funded programs will be suspended.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The NRC has stressed that it has been providing humanitarian aid in Afghanistan since 2003 and remains committed to supporting Afghans affected by displacement.

The council said in a statement that it had never had to make such a decision in its history.

According to the statement, the Norwegian Refugee Council's staff in Afghanistan have been forced to stop providing assistance to vulnerable people who were previously supported by the agency.

The organization called on all donors and international charities to strengthen cooperation, prevent the reduction of vital services and meet the needs of the Afghan people.

The council said in a statement that despite these difficulties, it would continue to work with other donor agencies to continue providing vital services to Afghans.

“The recent orders to suspend U.S. aid have had a negative impact on our overall capacity and have forced us to close some programs; But our committed team will continue to provide vital services to Afghans with the generous support of other international donors.”

"The activities of those parts of the Norwegian Refugee Council, which were funded by the US Agency for International Development in 20 countries, have been suspended for the time being," said Abdul Rahman Habib, a spokesman for the Ministry of Economy. But other parts of it, which are funded with the help of other donors, continue as normal.”

Earlier, the Afghan Ministry of Economy announced on December 9 that 50 aid agencies had suspended their activities due to the suspension of US aid.
