Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The Hamas movement announced moments ago in a statement that after yesterday's consultations with mediators in Cairo and the occupation regime's obligation to implement its obligations under the ceasefire agreement, the prisoner exchange will be carried out according to the announced timetable.
The sixth round of the prisoner exchange was supposed to be implemented next Saturday, but due to the continuous sabotage by the Zionist regime and the prevention of the entry of containers, equipment and heavy vehicles for debris removal, Hamas decided to delay the implementation of the sixth round of the prisoner exchange until further notice.
Hamas announced today that a delegation of the movement, headed by Khalil al-Hayyah, consulted with mediators in Cairo yesterday regarding the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the exchange of prisoners, especially in the wake of Israel’s repeated violations. It met with the head of Egyptian intelligence, Hassan Rashad, and spoke by phone with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani. According to the statement, the Hamas delegation held meetings and calls with officials responsible for the negotiations in Egypt and Qatar, as well as with the technical teams of the mediators who are following up on the implementation of the agreement in all its aspects.
In all meetings and calls, Hamas stressed the need to adhere to the implementation of all the provisions of the agreement, especially regarding the provision of shelter for the people of the Gaza Strip and the immediate import of prefabricated houses (conces), tents, heavy equipment, medical equipment, fuel, and the continuation of the flow of aid and everything else included in the ceasefire agreement.
According to the statement, the talks were positive and the Egyptian and Qatari mediators confirmed that they would follow up on the issues to remove obstacles and gaps, so “Hamas also confirms its position to implement the agreement based on what was signed, including the exchange of prisoners according to the specified timetable.”
Hamas had previously stated that the most important violations of the ceasefire were preventing the entry of basic goods for the construction of shelters, including tents, prefabricated houses, fuel and debris removal mechanisms to remove the bodies of war victims, and delaying the entry of medicines and hospital supplies to rebuild hospitals and the health sector, and obstructing the return of Palestinian refugees to the northern Gaza Strip.
Following Hamas’s decision to postpone the handover of Israeli prisoners, domestic pressure on Netanyahu’s cabinet to implement the ceasefire clauses increased, and the Egyptian and Qatari mediators also focused on implementing the agreement.
Finally, Hamas's insistence paid off, and this morning, 801 trucks carrying humanitarian aid entered the Gaza Strip, including tents to house Palestinian refugees.
Channel 12 of the Israeli television also announced today that the Israeli cabinet will soon send fuel and containers to Gaza, thus paving the way for a prisoner exchange with the movement on Saturday.
Cairo News Network also reported the queuing of heavy trucks and convoys carrying heavy equipment in front of the Rafah crossing on the Egyptian side, ready to enter the Gaza Strip, and announced that trucks carrying prefabricated houses are also waiting to enter the Gaza Strip.
