US opposition to Ukraine
The US Secretary of Defense, calling Ukraine's joining NATO unrealistic, considered the idea of returning the country's borders to the 2014 status impossible and announced a change in US security priorities.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegsett, calling the idea of Ukraine joining NATO unrealistic, spoke about the change in US priorities in the field of security issues.

According to CNN, Hegsett emphasized that the United States no longer prioritizes the security of Europe and Ukraine because the Trump administration has focused its attention on maintaining the security of its country's borders and preventing war with China.

Hegsett also stated that European forces should assume the main responsibility for ensuring Ukraine's security and explicitly stated that US forces will not interfere in this matter.

He also stressed that returning Ukraine's borders to 2014 is unachievable and impossible.

Hegsett's comments came hours after Donald Trump announced that he had spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin and that the two sides had agreed to immediately begin negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.
