Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: In response to the events of yesterday evening, Saturday, in Beirut and the attack by the country's army forces on protesters who had held a protest rally in response to the Lebanese government's surrender to US and Zionist pressures, the Lebanese Hezbollah movement issued a statement and announced: The public sit-in that Hezbollah organized yesterday to condemn Israel's open intervention in Lebanese affairs and the violation of our country's national sovereignty was a peaceful action and a civilized expression of the Lebanese national position in rejecting unjustified surrender to foreign dictates.
Hezbollah added: "However, the protesters were surprised by the action of some elements of the Lebanese army in firing tear gas at them in the context of a condemned and reprehensible act that amounts to an unjustified attack on peaceful citizens. This incident is a suspicious attempt to draw the Lebanese army into a confrontation with the nation."
The statement continued: "Hezbollah, out of concern, calls on the army command to launch an immediate investigation into this condemned and reprehensible attack and to take appropriate measures to protect the role of the country's military institution in supporting internal stability and peace."
Hezbollah emphasized: "We also call on the Lebanese government to assume its full responsibilities in supporting the peaceful protesters and their right to express their positions and demands. We also demand that the Lebanese government reverse its decision to prevent Iranian planes from landing at Beirut airport and take serious action to prevent the imposition of the dictates of the Zionist enemy and this regime's encroachment on Lebanon's national sovereignty."
Hezbollah also condemned the incident that occurred near Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut for UNIFIL forces (the so-called United Nations peacekeeping forces in Lebanon), and emphasized its rejection of any targeting of international forces, as well as any damage to public and private property in Lebanon.
