Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Continuing Russia's advances in the war in Ukraine, Moscow announced that it has taken new areas of Russia's Kursk province from the control of the Ukrainian army.
According to Sputnik News Agency, the Russian Defense Ministry announced in its daily report on the latest developments in the war in Ukraine that it has taken control of the residential area of Sverdlovsk in Kursk.
In August 2024, the Ukrainian army was able to take control of parts of Russia's Kursk province in a surprise operation.
This attack is considered the largest invasion of foreign elements against Russian territory since World War II.
In this attack, more than 1,268 square kilometers of Russian territory fell into the hands of Ukrainian forces, of which at least 63 percent have been taken back, according to Russian officials.
Previously, the Russian army announced the continuation of the country's military advance in the eastern provinces of Ukraine and the control of the residential area of Figulvka, as well as the downing of 177 Ukrainian drones.
According to Fars, the war in Ukraine began following Kiev's attempt to join the NATO military alliance, and despite the significant support of Western countries for the country, Ukraine has not only not come close to joining NATO, but may also be forced to cede parts of its territory to Russia in future peace negotiations.
