Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mashhad: Ghulam Hossein Mozaffari, the governor of Khorasan Razavi province, said on Sunday that Iran's exports to Afghanistan have exceeded $2 billion since the beginning of this year.
"Afghanistan is a neighboring country of Khorasan Razavi and the volume of Iran's exchanges and relations with this country is large because the taste of the Afghan people is very close to Iranian goods," he said.
He added that the executive branches should provide necessary assistance to facilitate exports and imports from Afghanistan. It is also necessary for customs to provide services on Fridays so that the volume of cargo on both sides of the border can be moved quickly.
The governor of Khorasan Razavi stressed the implementation and acceleration of the commitments of Iran and Afghanistan to provide the necessary infrastructure for the development of activities and the entry and exit of vehicles at the border and noted: Minimum facilities should be provided for passengers and "trucks" traveling at the border.
Mozaffari stressed: Khorasan Razavi is interested in increasing the development of relations with Afghanistan in the field of exports and imports and therefore will use maximum facilities to facilitate, transparent routes and processes.
He continued: Lack of coordination of border guards can affect exports, while the duty of all officials is to develop exports.
He stressed the implementation of the resolutions and agreements reached, saying: Part of the stops at the border is due to the lack of proper, direct, clear and accurate communication between the executive agencies and the other side.
The governor of Khorasan Razavi stressed on the compilation of border processes and measures and said: By focusing all measures on one border point, traffic will be created and it is necessary to take measures to reduce traffic at the entrance and exit of the border.
Mozaffari considered the establishment of mutual relations between Khorasan Razavi province and Afghanistan important and necessary and stressed: Security depends on the economy. Bottlenecks and barriers along the border and customs route must be minimized to maximize capacity and space to improve economic relations.
Meanwhile, the deputy coordinator of economic affairs of Khorasan Razavi province said in another part of the meeting: Iranian trucks are delayed in Afghanistan for at least 20 to 25 days after entering Afghanistan and they are not allowed to leave.
Reza Jamshidi pointed to facilitating border exchanges between Iran and Afghanistan by increasing customs working hours, adding: Increasing customs working hours at the Iran-Afghanistan border is necessary to reduce the problems of truck traffic (trucks) and sleeping drivers.
He pointed out that customs and borders will be active from Friday until the end of the year, adding: It was agreed that by increasing customs working hours in the two countries, the problem of vehicle delays will be reduced to the minimum possible. Also, in order to organize border sources and border exchanges between Iran and Afghanistan, the quality of export products and import needs should be increased.
Meanwhile, the district governor of Taibad city said in another part of the meeting: The Afghan side is not committed to its commitments and this is while with all the privileges of Iran, they create daily restrictions for Iranian trucks.
Mehdi Shirdel pointed to the change of the starting hours of Dogaron customs from 7 am and added: With this decision, we hope to reduce the problems for vehicle traffic and smooth the passage of stopped fleets.
"The Dogaron Free Zone is of great importance as a unique economic opportunity between Iran and Afghanistan," he said.
Shirdel also pointed to the growth of fleet traffic at the border zero point and said: According to the percentage of traffic growth compared to last year, the number of fleet has reached from 190 thousand to nearly 300 thousand vehicles.
