Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Russia's permanent representative to international organizations based in Vienna, Austria, Mikhail Ulyanov, in a message on Twitter today, reacted to the statements of European officials about the deployment of forces in Ukraine.
Ulyanov said that EU countries are discussing the hypothetical deployment of their peacekeeping forces in Ukraine within the framework of the peace agreement, while such discussions are "premature" and "it is still unclear whether there will be a need for peacekeeping forces."
He emphasized that "if such forces are needed, they should come from neutral countries. The European Union is not neutral."
Earlier, the British Prime Minister announced his readiness to send such forces to Ukraine, and the Financial Times, citing sources, reported that the French government had proposed deploying EU forces behind the ceasefire line in Ukraine.
The German government did not rule out such a move if a decision was made, but said it was too early to talk about it.
The press office of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has warned that the West intends to deploy a so-called “peacekeeper” force of about 100,000 people in Ukraine to restore the country’s combat capabilities, which would effectively mean occupying Ukraine.
