Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: In a situation where US President Donald Trump has called for the forced evacuation of the people of Gaza, Arab countries will hold a meeting next month to present an alternative plan to Trump.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this afternoon (Tuesday) that an extraordinary meeting of Arab countries on the Gaza Strip will be held in Cairo on March 4, 16 days from now.
The meeting was scheduled to be held on March 27, but according to Cairo, it has been postponed by 7 days in order to prepare the necessary groundwork for the meeting.
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit had previously said that Arab countries would try to present an alternative plan to the US President's request at the meeting.
In recent weeks, Donald Trump has repeatedly called for the evacuation of Gazans to Egypt and Jordan, a demand that has been strongly opposed by regional countries.
The Al Arabi Al-Jadeed newspaper reported yesterday that some Arab countries have called for Hamas to withdraw from governing the Gaza Strip and disarm the group in an alternative plan.
The diplomatic advisor to the president of the UAE, Anwar Gargash, referred to this issue on Friday last week and considered the calls for Hamas to withdraw a "reasonable" demand.
Although Hamas has not responded to the media report, according to the Al Arabi Al-Jadeed report, the group has announced to Arab countries, including Egypt, that it will support the Palestinian groups governing Gaza, but that it rejects any attempt to disarm itself.
