Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Steve Witkoff said in an interview in front of the White House: We are coordinating to hold this meeting in Riyadh or even Jeddah, so the exact location is not yet known, but it will definitely be in Saudi Arabia.
According to Al Jazeera, Witkoff also added: Our goal is to develop a framework for a peace agreement and establish an initial ceasefire.
This meeting will be the first high-level meeting between US and Ukrainian officials since the tense meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky on February 28. After that meeting, Trump cut off the exchange of information and US aid to Ukraine.
Steve Witkoff described the Ukrainian President's letter to Donald Trump as a "positive first step." He noted that Zelensky may be invited back to the White House in the future.
Witkoff said: "The US president has emphasized that there is a way back, and President Zelensky has shown that he has good intentions in this direction. He has expressed his apology and gratitude and said that he wants peace."
He claimed: "Ultimately, the main goal is peace. The president is a results-oriented person. He is looking for a good result, and a good result means peace, an end to war and a better world."
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in a late-night speech about these US efforts: He will travel to Saudi Arabia next week for peace talks.
He said: "I will travel to this country on Monday to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. After that, my team will remain in Saudi Arabia to work with American partners. Ukraine is interested in peace more than anything else.
Zelensky also stressed that these negotiations will be an important step towards ending the war.
However, the Ukrainian president refused to provide further details about the nature of the peace talks and his country's preconditions in this regard.
The Trump administration has now accepted two Russian preconditions for ending the war. These two preconditions include accepting the annexed territories to Russia and Ukraine's non-membership in NATO, an issue that Kiev officials have repeatedly opposed.
Ukrainian forces encircled on the Kursk front
Meanwhile, according to the latest reports from the Ukrainian war, Rossiya Today reported that the Russian army has made significant advances on the Kursk front and is on the verge of encircling Ukrainian forces in the Sudga area.
Russian sources stated that the Ukrainian forces are in a chaotic situation on the Kursk axis, after a surprise attack by the Russian army.
According to reports, Russian forces have managed to break through Ukrainian defenses in the Givoy area and have advanced five kilometers in the past few days, cutting off Ukraine's second supply line near Sudga.
The Russian army has continued its advance southwest of Sudga in the Kurilovka area. All roads leading to Sudga are either blocked by the Russians or are under fire from the Russian army, making it difficult to provide assistance to Ukrainian forces in the area.
Ukrainian sources said that the situation of the Ukrainian army in Kursk is very chaotic and catastrophic, and that the time has come for the Ukrainian forces to withdraw.
