Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: On Wednesday, March 12, the ILNA news agency reported, quoting Jabar Ali Zakeri, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, that Iran will soon deliver European cargo to the people of Afghanistan via the Khaf-Herat railway route.
Zakeri said that the passenger section of this route will also begin operating soon.
This official of the Islamic Republic of Iran noted that transit trains have been transferred from Turkey and India to Afghanistan several times.
The Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran also called the Khaf-Herat railway route important for neighboring countries.
It is worth noting that the railway train has traveled between Afghanistan and Iran several times in recent years.
Jabarali Zakari also said that the transit of European cargo via the Khaf-Herat railway route in Iran will also take shape soon.
The deputy minister of roads and urban development of Iran says that the railway route from Roznak to Herat is under construction and that passenger trains will also be activated upon its completion.
He added that neighboring countries are using the Iran and Khaf-Herat railway corridor to transport their cargo to Afghanistan, especially western Afghanistan.
The deputy minister of roads and urban development of Iran said, “The important news is that Iran will soon deliver European cargo to the people of Afghanistan via the Khaf-Herat railway route.”
It is said that currently, at least one to three trains are transited every week from various sources, including Turkey and India, to Bandar Abbas, Iran, via open waters and to Afghanistan via rail.
The Islamic Emirate also recently announced that construction work on the second phase of the fourth section of the Khaf-Herat railway, 47 kilometers long, has begun at a cost of $53 million.
Earlier this year, the caretaker government signed a contract with Gama to build the second phase of the fourth section of this railway.
It is worth noting that after the Islamic Emirate came to power, the country's trade relations with its neighbors, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran, have expanded.
