Iranian Foreign Ministry: New US sanctions are evidence of Washington's lawlessness and deceit

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement strongly condemning the new US sanctions against a number of individuals, companies and tankers linked to Iran, including the Islamic Republic's oil minister.

 

Referring to the repeated claims of American officials that they are willing to negotiate with Iran, he said: "The imposition of new sanctions once again reveals the falsehood of these claims and shows Washington's hostile approach towards the Iranian people."

 

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei added: “The unilateral US actions to disrupt economic and trade relations between Iran and other countries are a clear violation of the fundamental principles of international law and the rules of global free trade.”

 

He noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran holds the US government responsible for the consequences and effects of such illegal actions and warned that foreign pressure will not hinder the development and progress of the Iranian nation.

 

In recent days, the US Treasury Department announced the imposition of new sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran. These sanctions include the Iranian Oil Minister, several companies active in the energy and maritime transport sectors, and some tankers related to Iranian oil exports. American officials have stated that the purpose of these sanctions is to counter what they call “illegal sales of Iranian oil.”

 

Iran, however, considers this claim baseless and emphasizes that such hostile actions not only lack legal legitimacy, but also reflect the contradictory and unconstructive policies of the US towards the region and the world.
