Signing of a $5 million mine clearance agreement between the Disaster Management Authority and an international organization
The National Disaster Preparedness Authority says that the authority has signed a $5 million agreement with the International Information Management and Mine Action Program (IMMAP) in the field of mine clearance in the country.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the National Disaster Preparedness Authority, in a press release on the X-Channel, said that Mullah Nooruddin Torabi, the head of the authority, met and discussed with Ghulam Haider Faizi, the operational director of the International Information Management and Mine Action Program (IMMAP), and Abdul Fattah Ishaqzai, an employee of the same authority.

According to the press release, in this meeting, Torabi welcomed the delegation and said that Afghanistan is a country that faces the threats of natural and unnatural disasters and we want to work more in the field of prevention projects, because prevention can save people from great losses at a low cost.

The press release added that the acting director of the National Disaster Preparedness Office said that we have identified areas at risk in 34 provinces of the country and we want to prevent risks so that people are not harmed. He also added that we are always committed to expediting and transparency of work.

In the press release, the IMMAP program team expressed special gratitude to the acting director of the National Disaster Preparedness Office that now more than ever, institutions are interested in cooperating with this office and we also want to cooperate with the National Disaster Preparedness Office.

The press release added that Ghulam Haider Faizi, Director of Operations, said that this institution has been operating in this direction since 2010 and works in the field of information management and disaster risk reduction.

It is worth noting that this memorandum of understanding, which was signed with the program for a value of $5 million, will cooperate with the National Disaster Preparedness and Combating Office and other institutions in 5 important areas: 1- Humanitarian Data Center Platform 2- Support for Information Management 3- Mapping and Cartography 4- Pre-disaster Warning and Response 5- Support for Communications in the Climate Adaptation Sector.

At the end of this meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed by both parties.
