Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: The Afghan Embassy in Tehran announced that the second phase of transferring Afghan prisoners sentenced to imprisonment from Iranian prisons to Afghanistan has been completed.
It was said that in this phase, 62 Afghan prisoners were transferred to the country on Wednesday, 20 March, after going through legal procedures and establishing their identities.
This announcement comes at a time when hundreds of Afghan prisoners were also returned to the country via the land border the previous day.
According to the embassy’s announcement, a total of 211 Afghan prisoners have been transferred to the country in two phases so far. Also, 200 other eligible prisoners are scheduled to be transferred to Afghanistan after the Eid al-Fitr holidays.
This move is in line with judicial cooperation between the two countries and addressing the situation of Afghan prisoners in Iran. The Afghan embassy in Tehran has announced that efforts will continue to transfer other Afghan prisoners from Iran to Afghanistan.
This news comes at a time when the transfer of these prisoners is considered a positive step towards resolving this issue and improving relations between the two countries.
