Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: As the 23rd night of Ramadan approaches, coinciding with the third Night of Power and the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ali (a.s.), hundreds of believers and religious people revived this great night in Khatam al-Anbiya Mosque (PBUH) in West Kabul by reciting prayers, reading the Quran and performing deeds of Night of Power.
In this ceremony, Hujjat al-Islam and Muslims Muhammad Hussein Balaghi, while explaining the importance of the Night of Power, said: The Night of Power has existed since the creation of man, but before the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), this night was reserved for the divine prophets and did not include previous nations. He added that only the nation of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) fully benefits from the blessings of the Night of Power.
He continued by referring to the deeds of the Night of Power and said: Revival of these nights, remembrance and supplication to God Almighty and helping the poor and needy brings man closer to God and answers prayers.
Hujjat al-Islam Balaghi also referred to the high position of Imam Ali (PBUH) and said: The position and virtue that God has granted to Imam Ali (PBUH) is not simply because of his closeness to the Prophet (PBUH), but rather this position was granted to him because of Imam Ali (PBUH)’s sincere service.
Describing the worship and asceticism of Imam Ali (AS), he said: It is narrated that he used to worship God in the middle of the night and would become so immersed in the remembrance of God that he would faint from the intensity of his love and humility. Hazrat Fatima (SA) also said that Imam Ali (AS) would faint every night from the intensity of his worship.
This religious scholar emphasized that a person should not forget God Almighty when achieving status, wealth or power; because only God grants everything to a person.
He also referred to the character of Imam Ali (AS) and said: He would put a bag of dates on his shoulder at night and help the needy; but until his martyrdom, people did not know that the kind person who brought them food at night was the Commander of the Faithful Ali (AS). After his martyrdom, the orphans and the poor once again felt orphaned.
The ceremony ended with special acts of Laylat al-Qadr, including reciting the Great Jushan al-Kabir prayer, reciting the Quran, and mourning the martyrdom of Amir al-Mu'minin Ali (AS).
