Coordination Group Meeting for Aid to Afghanistan to be Held in Istanbul
The Turkish Embassy in Kabul has announced that the “Afghanistan Coordination Group” meeting, which aims to attract aid to Afghanistan, will be held in Istanbul today and tomorrow.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: According to the Turkish Embassy, ​​this meeting is important to review “the priorities and programs of the international community for Afghanistan” and “ensure coordination between initiatives and projects of countries.”
 
Earlier, the Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) announced the holding of this meeting and announced that representatives of donor countries, international financial institutions and UNAMA would attend it.
 
UNAMA has called on donors to continue their vital support to the people of Afghanistan.
 
Andrika Ratwatte, Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan, has emphasized that in order to help the people of Afghanistan escape the cycle of poverty, the necessary facilities and methods must be provided to address their needs.
 
UNAMA noted that a total of $3.21 billion was provided to support the people of Afghanistan last year (2024), representing an increase in funding compared to the previous year. This support will enable the UN and its partners to provide essential services and strengthen the resilience of Afghan citizens, including women and girls.
 
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is appealing for $2.24 billion this year to address those in need.
