While the Trump administration is talking about its readiness to negotiate with Tehran, at the same time the US Secretary of Defense has threatened the Islamic Republic with bombers stationed on an Indian Ocean island.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): As speculations about the possibility of nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington increase, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hexath, in a meaningful statement, refused to confirm or deny the connection between the deployment of B-2 strategic bombers and Iran, saying: "That's up to them."

During his visit to Panama, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hexath told reporters about the possibility of sending a warning message to Iran by stationing B-2 bombers on the island of Diego Garcia. "This is a valuable asset... and it has a message for everyone."

He continued: "President Trump has a clear position. Iran should not obtain a nuclear bomb. "We hope this issue can be resolved peacefully."

The US defense secretary's comments come as the country's president recently announced his readiness to begin direct talks with Iran over its nuclear program, while warning that Iran would face "great danger" if the talks fail.

However, the Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly stressed that it will not give in to Washington's threats and has also announced that the talks will only be held indirectly and through intermediaries in Oman.

While an indirect meeting between the US and Iran is scheduled to take place in Oman on Saturday, in addition to the US Treasury Department announcing new sanctions against Iran, Trump again threatened military action on Wednesday, saying, "If necessary, we will use military force. Israel, of course, will be on the front lines. But we will make our own decisions."

The United States moved B-2 bombers to Diego Garcia in March, and military experts and analysts believe that Washington's move was intended to show its power.

The British newspaper The Telegraph recently reported that Iran has warned that the Islamic Republic will target the Diego Garcia base in the Chagos Archipelago if Britain cooperates with the United States in any action against Iran.
