Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mashhad: Hafizullah Soltani, an expert on political issues and representative of the Sunni immigrants of Khorasan Razavi, in an interview with AVA correspondent in Mashhad Moqads, referred to the historical record and continuity of the United States' interventions in Iran and considered these actions part of Washington's hegemonic and unilateral policies and emphasized that independent nations must stand up to these bullying actions.
Soltani, referring to the role of the United States in the internal affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran before the Islamic Revolution, stated: Before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the United States played a direct role in internal tyranny by supporting the Pahlavi regime and suppressing popular movements. The coup of 1953, which took place under the direct guidance of the CIA, was one of the most obvious examples of foreign interference in the political structure of an independent country.
He added: After the Islamic Revolution, these interventions took on a new form; through economic sanctions, support for terrorist groups, and creating political and security pressures on the Islamic Republic of Iran. The United States was never able to overcome the overthrow of the Shah's regime and the establishment of an independent and anti-dominant military in Iran, and this has led to the continuation of tension between the two countries.
Analyzing the roots of the tension between Iran and the United States, this political expert stated: These tensions have ideological and strategic roots. Iran, as the standard-bearer of resistance against the global hegemony system, is not willing to submit to the excesses of the United States, and this has led Washington to constantly use various tools to contain and pressure Iran; from sanctions to military threats.
Referring to the situation in the region, he added: Although the probability of a full-scale war is very low, scattered and proxy conflicts in the region—especially in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Lebanon—are signs of a combined US war with the axis of resistance. Iran has shown that it will respond with force to any aggression and has established a balance of deterrence.
The representative of the Sunni immigrants of Khorasan Razavi also pointed out the importance of Iran's stability for the development of the region and said: Iran, as one of the most important players in the region, plays a key role in the economic and security stability of West Asia. Stability in Iran can help economic prosperity in Afghanistan, because Iran is one of the main transit routes for goods, energy, and trade cooperation for our country.
He warned that the outbreak of war in Iran could have serious consequences for Afghanistan and said: This war could not only trigger a wave of instability and displacement in the region, but also have numerous economic, security, and social consequences for our country; from increased unemployment among immigrants to disruptions in the goods and energy markets.
Finally, Soltani strongly criticized US foreign policies and said: US foreign policy has been formed on the basis of unilateralism and hegemony. This country has interfered in the internal affairs of many countries through tools such as sanctions, military threats, coups, media manipulation, and support for puppet governments.
He added: Iran is only one of the victims of these policies, but countries such as Iraq, Libya, Syria, Venezuela, and even Afghanistan have also suffered from destructive US interference. This bullying is actually an attempt to protect US economic and geopolitical interests, not a concern for democracy or human rights.
Soltani emphasized: Independent nations must stand up to these interventions and maintain their independence with awareness, unity, and resistance.
In an interview with an Ava reporter in Mashhad, political and cultural activist Davud Afshar also pointed out the long history of US interference in Islamic countries and the region and emphasized that the United States has always been trying to prevent the independence and progress of the nations of the region, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran, by seeking domination.
Afshar stated that American interference in the affairs of Islamic countries and the region has a long history, and said: After World War II, America's arrogant approach became particularly prominent in the Middle East. In Iran, too, before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Americans had influence in all the affairs of the country; from dismissing and appointing ministers to approving the qualifications of parliamentarians, which would not have been possible without the Americans' opinion.
He added: At that time, America had more than 41,000 military, security, and political advisors in Iran, under whose supervision almost all the country's basic affairs were managed. However, with the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the uprising of Imam Khomeini (RA), America's hand in Iran was shortened and the depth of its influence was completely lost.
Afshar continued: America did not sit still in the face of this historical defeat and from the very early days of the revolution, it designed and implemented numerous conspiracies against the Islamic Republic; from the eight-year war imposed by Saddam to Attempted coups, inciting ethnic conflicts, street wars, and ultimately, widespread economic sanctions that have continued since the beginning of the revolution to this day.
Stating that the United States is afraid of Iran becoming a model for other Islamic nations, he said: "The United States is concerned that Iran, relying on its domestic capabilities and without dependence on the West, will achieve progress and development, and this will become a model for other nations. The realization of such a model will mean the end of American influence in the countries of the region, and this is the reason for America's continuous hostility towards the Islamic Revolution."
Referring to Washington's recent policies, this political expert added: "In the Trump administration, the Americans sought to bring Iran to the negotiating table in order to achieve demands through negotiations that they have failed to achieve through pressure and sanctions over the past 40 or 50 years."
He emphasized: "However, Iran's historical experience and accurate knowledge of the nature of America show that these negotiations will not achieve a desirable result either." Americans cannot be trusted even in negotiations, because breaking promises is part of their nature.
This cultural and political activist concluded by saying: “The Iranian path is the path of resistance. Just as the Iranian nation has been able to walk the path of progress with perseverance in the past four decades, today it will continue this path with perseverance and not giving in to America’s coercive demands. This resistance is not only a model for the Iranian people, but also for all free and Muslim nations of the world.”
