New York Times: What is Trump looking for in negotiations with Iran?
According to the New York Times, during his first term as president, Trump presented his formula for the Iran nuclear talks, claiming that if Obama’s negotiating team “had just gotten up from the table once or twice, a better deal would have been reached. They negotiated very badly.”
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: According to the New York Times, at the current time when Iran’s nuclear progress has been very high and the gap between the Iranian and American sides has widened, the Americans under the Trump presidency want to eliminate Iran’s extensive nuclear fuel enrichment infrastructure, its missile program, and Tehran’s support for Hamas, Hezbollah, and other resistance groups.

The media outlet said that the negotiating environment is more complex than during Obama’s time. Iran’s nuclear program has progressed since Trump abandoned the previous agreement; Today, Iran is enriching uranium to 60 percent, which is just one step closer to a bomb.

It is said that US intelligence agencies have concluded that Iran is considering a faster approach to developing nuclear weapons, and that if the Iranian leader decides to issue an order to build a nuclear weapon, Tehran would need only a few months, not a year or two, to do so.

According to Tasnim, Senator Jane Shinhein of New Hampshire called Trump's decision to withdraw from the JCPOA "a serious mistake" and said: "It is imperative that we reach an agreement quickly. Iran's nuclear program is progressing every day, and as the expiration of the reversible sanctions approaches, we are in danger of losing one of our most important pressure tools."

Jett, a professor of international relations at Pennsylvania State University, also said: "I think these negotiations will be short-lived and useless." Whittaker, a real estate investor from New York, seems to think diplomacy is just about making a deal. You go back and forth and sign the deal. It’s not that simple.

This comes as talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States are set to begin in Oman next Saturday.
