Iranian high-level political-economic delegation visits Herat province
A high-level delegation of Iranian political and economic officials has visited Herat and Farah provinces to discuss the expansion of trade and economic cooperation with Afghanistan, Iranian media reported.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Herat: A political-economic delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran has visited western Afghanistan to review and expand economic and trade cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan, media reported.
 
The delegation includes Sayed Abdullah Arjaei, deputy planning and resources minister of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, Sayed Rasool Mohajir, deputy economic diplomacy minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Director General of South Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alireza Bekdali, acting head of the Iranian embassy in Kabul, and Mr. Hashemi, governor of South Khorasan province.
 
The delegation's programs in Herat will include a visit to the Herat Industrial Estate, the Khaf-Herat railway and the Roznak station, as well as a meeting with the governor of Herat. The delegation will meet with Afghan government and private sector officials to discuss Herat's economic potential and how to expand economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
 
The delegation will also visit Farah province after Herat and pursue plans to develop bilateral cooperation and facilitate the transportation of goods between Iran and Afghanistan.
 
The visit comes as trade between the two countries has increased by 84 percent in the past year compared to the previous year. Afghan and Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed the need to implement joint economic agreements and develop trade and transit between the two countries.
