Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Al Jazeera Network quoted an Iranian source as saying that Iran is seriously and decisively pursuing indirect talks with the US. Referring to the Iranian negotiating team, the source said that the team will go to Muscat with full and broad powers.
The Al Jazeera source also described the insistence on dismantling and halting the uranium enrichment program as completely unacceptable and stated: “If Washington wants to be assured of the peaceful nature of our nuclear program, an agreement is within reach.”
The source added: The talks in Muscat are taking place in a situation where Iran’s armed forces are prepared in an unprecedented way. Iran wants negotiations and agreements, but it will not accept threats. He warned that if the US insists on choosing the path of threats and war, Iran will be ready to respond appropriately.
The source emphasized that the US has clearly agreed to indirect negotiations and what it is saying now is surprising.
According to Tasnim, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi also stated on the sidelines of his trip to Algeria in a conversation about the Iran-US talks in Oman: “Our preferred form is indirect negotiations. Negotiations that if they want to impose their will on us through pressure and threats, this is not a negotiation but dictation, and we do not believe in such a method. The indirect method can best guarantee a real and result-oriented negotiation, and we will proceed in this way.”
This is while the Axios news site had previously reported that the Donald Trump administration had agreed to Iran’s proposal to hold indirect talks through the mediation of Oman. Some analysts also believe that US claims about direct negotiations are part of its hybrid war against Iran.
