Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Maulavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administration, accompanied by a number of members of the High Commission for the Resolution of Refugees' Problems, officials of the aforementioned commission committees, the governor of Nangarhar province and local officials, visited the Omari camp in Torkham yesterday.
During this visit, Maulavi Abdul Salam Hanafi met with the heads of the committees of the High Commission for the Resolution of Refugees' Problems, reviewed the work of the committees and closely observed the situation of the expelled refugees.
He also shared the situation of the refugees with the authorities, saying that all authorities, including the Leader of the Islamic Emirate, the Prime Minister and his deputies, ministers and all officials, are trying to facilitate and provide better services to the refugees in terms of providing facilities and dignified transfer to their residential areas.
The head of the High Commission for Addressing Refugee Problems spoke about the forced expulsion of refugees by neighboring countries, saying that our neighbors should refrain from unprincipled expulsion and harassment of refugees.
He also called on international organizations to fulfill their responsibility in ensuring the rights of refugees, and called on Afghans and national businessmen at home and abroad to fulfill their responsibility towards their refugee brothers at this critical time and continue to help them as much as they can.
Maulavi Abdul Salam Hanafi noted that the nations of Afghanistan and Pakistan have historical, cultural, social and religious ties, and that harassment, persecution and forced expulsion of refugees will cause damage to bilateral relations, and called on scholars, politicians and the Pakistani nation to fulfill their responsibility in this area so that injustice is not done to refugees.
The head of the High Commission for the Redress of Refugee Problems and his accompanying delegation, who made this trip to review the situation of refugees, reviewed the problems of returning refugees and assigned the relevant committees to address the problems and needs of their fellow refugees as soon as possible.
It is worth mentioning that during this visit, a settlement for refugees called Qasim Abad, which is located on about three thousand acres of land and has a capacity of more than four thousand refugee families, was also inaugurated and will be distributed to the deserving.
