Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi arrived in Muscat this morning (Saturday, April 14) to participate in indirect talks with the United States.
Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, and Ismail Baghaei are accompanying Araqchi on this trip.
Araqchi and US Special Representative for West Asia Steve Whittaker are scheduled to hold indirect talks this afternoon through Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaid. Messages from both sides will be conveyed verbally and in writing to the heads of delegations through the Omani Foreign Minister.
Steve Whittaker also arrived in Muscat this morning.
Esmail Baghaei, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said this morning (Saturday): "We are leaving for Muscat with a group of our most experienced colleagues, accompanied by the Foreign Minister. We are determined to use all capacities to protect Iran's authority and national interests."
Yesterday (Friday), the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman called these negotiations an opportunity for the United States that it should appreciate, saying: "We are giving diplomacy a real opportunity with good intentions and full vigilance. The United States should appreciate this decision, which has been made despite their noise."
