Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to the Islamic World Developments News Agency, with the advance of the Israeli army’s infantry forces, the military authorities of the regime have announced that they have gained full control of the 12-kilometer Morag corridor. Operations on this axis are being carried out by the 36th Division, the Golani Brigade and the 188th Brigade of the Israeli army.
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz also confirmed on April 13 that the Israeli army now has full control of the Morag axis. According to him, this axis places the area from the Philadelphia axis to Morag within Israel’s security zone.
Hebrew-language media have introduced the Morag axis as Philadelphia 2 and consider it strategically important for military operations in Rafah.
According to these media, by constructing and controlling this route, the Israeli army will be able to facilitate the operation to clear Rafah and confront resistance groups. The army has also begun searching for resistance tunnels in this area.
Israeli officials claim that with military control over this route, the movements and transfer of weapons by resistance groups will be reduced. In fact, one of the main military goals of the Zionist regime in building this corridor is to cut off the aid lines between Rafah and Khan Yunis.
In addition to its military importance, the Morag axis is also the main route for transporting goods and agricultural products from the south to the north of the Gaza Strip.
With Israel gaining control of this route, a large part of the Gaza Strip's agricultural and food resources will be at risk, especially from the city of Rafah, which is one of the main centers of vegetable production.
