Iraq warns of increased ISIS activity in Syria
In a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, the Iraqi Foreign Minister warned of the increased activity of the ISIS terrorist group in Syria and called for the formation of a committee consisting of neighboring countries to confront the group.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): "Fawad Hussein", Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, stressed that Baghdad supports the initiative of the Turkish government to resolve its problem with the PKK and the message of "Abdullah Ocalan", the leader of this group.

According to a statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, the fifth high-level meeting of the security mechanism was held yesterday, Sunday, between Iraq and Turkey with the participation of delegations from the two countries in the province of Antalya to discuss solutions to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the security, political and economic fields, with a special focus on combating terrorism and security coordination.

The meeting, which was chaired by the Iraqi delegation, Fuad Hussein, and the Turkish side, Hakan Fidan, also discussed the fight against ISIS, Zionist interventions in Syria, aggression against Gaza, and the PKK's preparations to disarm.

Fuad Hussein, noting that the meeting reflected a shared seriousness in resolving regional challenges, said: "We discussed developments in Syria, the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States, and the current war in Gaza."

Emphasizing the Iraqi government's support for peaceful solutions, he stated: "Dialogues between Washington and Tehran are the only way to avert an all-out war."

The Iraqi Foreign Minister, while warning about the increase in the activity of the ISIS terrorist group in Syria, called for the formation of a five-member joint committee consisting of Iraq, Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.

On the other hand, Fidan emphasized that the goal of the meeting is to achieve joint solutions to confront security challenges.

He said: "Turkey is not seeking to disrupt regional stability, but is trying to strengthen bilateral cooperation and protect common borders."

The meeting was attended by Defense Minister Thabit al-Abassi, National Security Advisor Qassem al-Araji, Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) head Faleh al-Fayyadh, Kurdistan Region Interior Minister Rayber Ahmed, and Iraqi National Intelligence Service head Hamid al-Shatri.

The Turkish delegation also included Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, National Intelligence Service head Ibrahim Kalin, and Deputy Interior Minister Munir Karaloğlu.
