US seeks to hold second round of indirect talks with Iran in Rome
Axios news agency says that the US proposal to host the second round of indirect talks between Iran and the US is Rome, the capital of Italy.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Axios news agency reported, citing two informed sources, that the next round of Iran-US talks will be held next Saturday in Rome, the capital of Italy.

Axios said that the Donald Trump administration wants the next round of talks to be held in Rome, and this is the proposal from the American side.

The American agency also claimed that the talks between Whittaker and Abbas Araqchi lasted about 45 minutes, which is longer than previously reported.

News sources had previously said that Whittaker and Araqchi spoke for a few minutes when they left separate rooms for the indirect talks.

The report added that US negotiator Steve Whittaker met with Trump on Sunday and shared the content of the first round of talks with him.

According to the report, Whittaker also met with Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Drummer.

The report added that while the next round of talks will definitely not be in Oman, an Omani mediator will be present at the next round of talks. Axios claimed that this time the American and Iranian sides will sit in the same room.

This is while Lawrence Norman, a reporter for the American newspaper Wall Street Journal, previously reported that the next round of talks will be held in Vienna.

The hosting of the talks in Rome or Vienna has not yet been announced or confirmed by either side.

Muscat hosted indirect talks between Iran and the United States last Saturday. Abbas Araqchi headed the Iranian delegation and Steve Whittaker headed the American delegation. The talks were about the nuclear file, lifting sanctions, and exploring ways to reduce tensions between the two countries.

After the talks, US President Donald Trump said that the talks with Iran went well.
