Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: European Union foreign ministers approved a new package of sanctions against Iran at their meeting today (Monday). The sanctions include seven Iranian individuals and two institutions.
Reuters news agency reported that the sanctions were imposed over the detention of European citizens in Iran.
According to information obtained by Reuters, the list of sanctioned individuals includes the head of Evin Prison and a number of judges and other judicial officials. A penitentiary in the city of Shiraz is also on the list of institutions sanctioned by the European Union.
No further details have been released about the nature and scope of the sanctions.
