Bright prospects for Afghanistan-Kazakhstan trade relations; Kazakhstan supports Afghanistan's transit programs

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Abdul Salam Javad Akhundzada, spokesman for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, told AVA that Nooruddin Azizi, the head of the ministry, met with Mr. Yerkin Valitkhanovich Tokumov, head of the Presidential Institute for Strategic Studies of Kazakhstan.

 

During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the mutual need for export goods and transit routes, expanding trade relations, Afghanistan's economic growth, economic plans, increasing Afghanistan's exports to Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan's support for Afghanistan's transit programs, Akhundzada said.

 

According to him, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Nuruddin Azizi, while welcoming Mr. Tokumov's visit to Afghanistan, thanked Kazakhstan for its cooperation, especially Mr. Serik Zhumangarin, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

 

Earlier, in July 2014, a trade meeting between Afghan and Kazakh businessmen and investors was held in Kabul with the aim of developing trade, attracting investment and creating business opportunities.

 

The participants of the meeting considered Afghanistan as a country rich in natural resources, especially minerals and agricultural products, as well as a transit connection point between Central and South Asian countries, and stressed the importance of trilateral cooperation between Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the fields of strengthening trade relations, increasing trade exchanges and infrastructure development. They stressed access to energy and raw materials, increasing foreign investment, strengthening economic security and stability, developing production and industrial capacities, expanding Afghanistan's strategic positions and sustainable economic growth.
