Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: According to a press release published by the ministry, Mullah Abdul Manan Omari, Acting Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, in a meeting with Titi Hiba Kari, the new Director of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Afghanistan, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to expanding technical and vocational training, reducing unemployment, and facilitating the sending of skilled labor abroad.
In this meeting, Mr. Omari called on the ILO to implement all its projects and programs in coordination with the ministry in the country. The Director of the ILO also assured the organization of its continued cooperation with Afghanistan and called for strengthening bilateral partnerships.
According to reliable domestic and international sources, the Ministry of Labor has taken practical and effective steps in recent months to organize the dispatch of labor, the most important of which are: signing cooperation agreements with Qatar, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates to dispatch skilled and semi-skilled workers; opening employment offices in Kabul and other provinces in cooperation with international organizations such as JACA; holding joint meetings with foreign countries and organizations, including the Afghanistan-Qatar Joint Working Committee in Doha; establishing work attaches in embassies to support and address the problems of Afghan workers abroad; issuing more than 33,000 work permits in the past three months, which indicates an increase in demand for job opportunities abroad; and setting a target to create 1.5 million jobs over the next five years by dispatching labor to regional and international markets.
This is despite media reports that thousands of young people have illegally migrated to neighboring and European countries in recent years due to the lack of sufficient job opportunities in the country.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs emphasizes that the aim of these programs is to legally manage the labor migration process, protect the rights of Afghan workers abroad, and strengthen the economy of families by increasing foreign exchange earnings.
