Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mazar-e-Sharif: Ayamuddin Yuldash, Information Director of the Department of Information and Culture of Sar-e-Pul Province, stated in this regard that the Committee for Supervision of Libraries and Bookstores includes representatives from the provincial government, the Directorates of Encouraging Righteousness and Forbidding Evil, Intelligence, and Hajj and Endowment Guidance.
He added that all libraries and bookstores in Sar-e-Pul Province have been notified to refrain from selling and offering books against Islamic Sharia and national culture. In case of violation of these instructions, legal and serious action will be taken against them.
This oversight committee, which operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Information and Culture in all provinces of the country, aims to prevent the distribution of books that contradict religious and cultural principles and to guide the country’s cultural atmosphere towards promoting Islamic values and principles.
According to cultural observers, the continued activity of the oversight committee on libraries and bookstores in Sar-e-Pul province reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to regulate and control the country’s cultural content. Given the country’s religious and cultural sensitivities, such measures may be useful for protecting national culture and Islamic law, but at the same time, care must be taken to ensure that these measures do not harm access to scientific and cultural resources.
