Iran-US indirect talks to be rescheduled again, as Washington imposes new sanctions on Tehran
While the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced last night (Tuesday, April 15) that the second round of indirect talks with the US will once again be held in Muscat, the American media reporter Axios, citing three sources, claimed that this round of talks will be held in Rome, the capital of Italy, as previously announced. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman also confirmed this rescheduling and called it an unprofessional and unfair move. At the same time, the US has announced new sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Esmail Baghaei, the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, wrote on his X page this Wednesday evening, April 16: “Changing the location of the goal in football is a professional mistake and an unfair move. But in diplomacy, such a move (which is promoted by extremist elements who lack an understanding of logic/the art of reasonable negotiation) can put any beginning at risk of destruction.”

He added: "Such a move could be seen as a lack of seriousness and goodwill. We are still in the testing phase...".
Meanwhile, Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Minister of Legal and International Affairs of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, announced in a special news interview with the country's news network: "Wherever the negotiations are, Oman is the intermediary, and the venue for the second round of negotiations is Rome."
He noted: "We should not waste our time on the location and time of the negotiations. We agreed to the two or three changes in the location of the negotiations, and this is not important. We do not believe in wasting our time on the location and time, and the Iranian side was not particularly sensitive."
According to Gharibabadi, the reason for the change in the location of the negotiations was the request of the other party.

But in another unexpected move by the US, the Treasury Department expanded sanctions against Iran on the eve of the second round of indirect negotiations with Tehran on the nuclear file by sanctioning seven entities and five ships related to oil transportation.

Meanwhile, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, noting that the first round of indirect Tehran-Washington talks was "positive" and "constructive", stated that it is expected that a framework for negotiations on Iran's nuclear program will be determined in the next round of talks.
