Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Emphasizes the Need for Bilateral Talks in the Process of Deporting Afghan Refugees from Pakistan
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce says that in a meeting with Afghan businessmen and refugees residing in Islamabad, Pakistan, the Acting Minister of the Ministry emphasized the need for bilateral talks to find appropriate solutions in the process of deporting Afghan refugees and called for the voluntary return of refugees based on the criteria of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, including safe, dignified and informed return.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce sent a press release to AVA News Agency today (Thursday, April 17) stating that Nooruddin Azizi, Acting Minister of the Ministry, headed a delegation with a number of Afghan businessmen and refugees residing in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Islamabad.

In this meeting, Mr. Azizi emphasized the comprehensive support of the Islamic Emirate for Afghan refugees and said that extensive measures have been taken to facilitate the voluntary return, resettlement and improvement of the living conditions of refugees in Afghanistan.

He also spoke about the establishment of a high commission to resolve refugee problems, the launch of a special camp to organize and provide facilities to returning traders and industrialists, as well as tax and customs exemptions.

According to the press release, recently, the acting Minister of Industry and Trade stressed the need for bilateral talks to find appropriate solutions in the process of expelling Afghan refugees and called for the voluntary return of refugees based on the criteria of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), including safe, dignified and informed return.

He also emphasized the importance of consultation and coordination with the Afghan government and international donors to support the process of hosting, returning and reintegration of Afghan refugees.

It is worth mentioning that yesterday, Nooruddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, headed a delegation consisting of representatives of the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office for Economic Affairs, the Investment Facilitation Directorate of the Administration, as well as representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Refugees and Repatriates, Transport and Civil Aviation, Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, as well as the Chambers of Agricultural Production, Trade and Investment, departed for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The purpose of this trip is to review and remove existing obstacles in the path of trade, transit and transportation between the two countries, as well as to discuss solving challenges related to Afghan refugees living in Pakistan.
