Accelerating the process of permanent settlement and land distribution to refugees expelled from neighboring countries
The High Commission for the Resolution of Refugees announced the holding of an important meeting of the heads of the twelve committees of this commission, with the aim of accelerating the process of permanent settlement of refugees expelled from neighboring countries and resolving their infrastructure problems. In this meeting, solutions were presented for the distribution of land and provision of drinking water for refugees.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the High Commission for the Resolution of Refugees announced that a meeting of the heads of the twelve committees of this commission was held yesterday, chaired by Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Administrative Officer of the Prime Minister. In this meeting, the members of the committees presented reports on the implementation status of their plans and actions to solve the problems of refugees.

Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi emphasized in his speech that accelerating the process of permanent settlement of refugees is one of the main priorities of this commission. He added that after the land status is stabilized by the relevant departments and provincial committees, land distribution to refugees who do not have homes will be on the agenda. It was also emphasized to provide drinking water in refugee tents and start infrastructure projects in refugee settlements, the preparations for which have been completed in some provinces.

In this meeting, in addition to infrastructure issues, the problems of refugees in the health and education fields were also discussed and reviewed. Necessary decisions were taken to improve the living conditions of refugees and the committees were instructed to take more effective action to provide services to refugees returning from neighboring countries.

This comes while the International Organization for Migration announced yesterday that in the last two weeks, nearly 60,000 Afghan refugees have been forcibly deported from Pakistan. These deportations have created new problems for refugees and increase the need for rapid and effective action to meet their basic needs, especially in the field of housing and welfare services.

Experts say that given the recent migration crises and increasing pressure on Afghan refugees in neighboring countries, holding such meetings and expediting the process of permanent settlement and land distribution to refugees is an important step in reducing the humanitarian and welfare problems of refugees. However, it should be noted that these measures will only be effective when accompanied by international support and careful monitoring. In addition, given the economic and security crises in Afghanistan, proper resource management and synergy with national and international institutions can have a great impact on improving the living conditions of refugees and creating economic and social opportunities for them.
