Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Dmitry Zhirnov, the Russian ambassador to Kabul, officially announced in an official meeting with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting foreign minister, that his country has removed the name of the Islamic Emirate from the list of banned groups.
This move is seen as a significant change in Russia's policy towards Afghanistan and could have a significant impact on relations between the two countries.
Hafiz Zia Ahmad, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stressed in a tweet that the decision of the Russian Supreme Court is a historic step and can help strengthen political and economic relations between Kabul and Moscow.
He added that this will open the doors to further cooperation aimed at mutual benefits between the two countries.
On the other hand, the Russian Foreign Ministry also announced in a statement: “The cancellation of the terrorist status of the Islamic Emirate paves the way for establishing a full-fledged partnership with Kabul, which is in the interests of the peoples of both countries, Russia and Afghanistan.”
The ministry noted that Russia seeks to establish mutually beneficial relations with Afghanistan in all areas, including in the fight against drugs and terrorism.
Suhail Shaheen, a senior official of the Islamic Emirate, also said in this regard: “We welcome the logical and far-sighted decision of the Russian Supreme Court. This step was not only timely, but also very necessary to pave the way for the expansion of bilateral cooperation and stronger relations between the two countries.”
Shaheen also emphasized the need to work to remove all obstacles ahead, stating that this step should not be viewed as just a temporary measure, but should be considered as a long-term and sustainable commitment. He stated that the focus should now be on identifying areas of mutual interest and taking practical steps to achieve tangible results. He also hopes that in the coming years, the relations between the two countries will deepen and that this decision will become the basis for a new chapter of bilateral cooperation.
The Afghan Embassy in Moscow also reacted quickly to this decision and announced that it welcomed the decision to suspend the ban on the activities of the Islamic Emirate in Russia. The embassy also thanked Moscow for this step.
Zamir Kabulov, the Russian President's Special Representative for Afghanistan, also noted in his statements that the Supreme Court's decision on the status of the Islamic Emirate removes legal obstacles to political and economic relations between Moscow and Kabul, which could pave the way for further cooperation.
In light of these developments, experts believe that removing the name of the "Islamic Emirate" from the list of banned groups could facilitate the improvement of economic and political relations between Russia and Afghanistan and provide a suitable basis for long-term cooperation in various fields.
This decision indicates significant changes in international politics and regional political situations and could have major impacts on the political and economic situation in Afghanistan in the near future.
